I know we are still in the midst of winter. The forecast ahead calls for snow. But now is the time you need to start planning for spring.
This is the time to decide your physical goals. You don't necessarily need to start a whole fitness regimen today but start thinking about it.
Is your goal to run/walk a 5k this year? If so, do some research now on how to train for such an activity. You will find plenty of start up guides that take you through a process of several weeks of gearing up and building up stamina so that you can get through the 5k.
There are start up programs for everything. You just need to decide what it is you want to do and then find a guide to help you. The key is starting early so that you have enough time to implement a plan and meet your goal.
Starting early will allow you to prepare mentally and get excited before you actually start a program.
If your goal is to lose weight. Start reading up on the different nutritional diets that are available. Don't just pick the first one you come across. Take time and learn about a whole bunch. You will find some appeal to you and some do not.
The key with a healthy diet, is just that. Nutrition is important not abstinence. It isn't about giving up chocolate or coffee. It is about adding healthy items one by one. The "bad" habits you have will either get crowded out or have less of an impact on your health.
Start with small and positive steps. Negative thoughts and guilty feelings are a waste of your time. Just keep looking forward to the next step or even start over if you need to.
Keep going no matter what. Start now while you have plenty of time and then have fun reaching your goal.
